How Hypnosis is Used to Wake People Up
by John McMullin, PhD/c

In the process of experiencing life's painful moments, we learn to numb the pain out by disconnecting and disassociating. Another name for this process is called hypnosis. Many people can be observed canceling out their pain by daydreaming, or staring off into the distance without awareness, or being present to their experiences in the moment.
Many children struggle with their studies because they read a book and can't remember anything they read. Others have this experience when they are watching television, driving a car or even talking on the telephone. This experience is most likely to occur when we associate a life experience with a painful memory from the past.
Using the powerful tool of Holistic Kinesiology(tm) to recover the painful memories and various techniques of hypnotherapy, people can be invited to begin the awakening process. "Waking up is hard to do" because we begin to remember the experiences and the painful emotions we associate with those memories.
Many people continue their life in denial because it is a process of avoiding the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual pain. Our experience suggests that unless a person is willing to embrace how parts of themselves benefit from staying numb and asleep and unless they're clear about the consequences of making a choice to heal these experiences, they will simply continue to feel themselves fall into a hypnotic trance each time they perceive a life experience they associate with the past.

In the hypnosis class offered June 3- 4, we will examine how quickly each of us responds in the awakening process by combining the powerful tools of Holistic Kinesiology(tm) and various techniques of hypnotherapy. Participants will be invited to clear some of their issues and will practice techniques presented in the class.
